Consumer Guide Overview

Consumer Guide Overview

Thank you for using the Brain Injury Association of Minnesota's Consumer Guide to Brain Injury Resources. This guide is partially funded by the Minnesota Department of Health and is designed to help you throughout the rehabilitation process. In this guide, you will find listings of resources and tips to help you choose support services that will meet your needs.

The brain is one of the most complex and least understood organs of the body. Each brain injury is unique. An estimated 5.3 million Americans, more than two percent of the U.S. population, currently live with a disability as a result of brain injury, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This translates to 100,000 Minnesotans living with a disability due to brain injury.

After a brain injury, there often are difficult decisions to make. Fortunately, there are many resources that can help make the most out of life after brain injury. The Brain Injury Association of Minnesota is happy to provide you with information about brain injury, as well as resources for family, friends, co-workers and medical professionals to help them understand brain injury and your particular situation. The Association is also able to support and problem-solve with professionals who serve individuals with brain injury.
