Final year to contribute to ground-breaking TBI research - Apply for the Midwest Advocacy Project today!
The Brain Injury Association of Minnesota is partnering with the Mayo Clinic TBI Model System in a research study to identify how to best teach advocacy to people touched by TBI to improve their health and that of their communities. This groundbreaking study is expected to advance the science of TBI research.

If you are at least 18 years old and a person or family member/significant other affected by a moderate to severe TBI a year or more ago, you are invited to contact us about participating in this research study.

Rhythm & Roll 2011
Join the Minnesota Stroke Association and Accessible Space, Inc. for an evening of Housing and Hope on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. This fundraising event features a concert by Tonic Sol-fa. Tickets are $28 or $40, and are available by calling 763-553-0088.

Minnesota Stroke Association joins the Brain Injury Association of Minnesota on Facebook and Twitter
Many of you are fans of the Brain Injury Association of Minnesota's Facebook page – an online community that has grown to 802 fans since it started in 2010. Some of you follow our daily updates on Twitter, which has grown to 579 followers in the last year.

Facebook and Twitter are fantastic ways to keep up with Association events and updates as well as read news stories that concern developments in brain injury around the world. But, they are also opportunities to build an online community.

You may not be aware that the Minnesota Stroke Association now has a presence on Facebook and Twitter as well. It’s in its early days, but growing, and we need your help to make it bigger. Golf Fundraiser
On Friday, June 10, the 2nd Annual Golf Fundraiser to benefit the Brain Injury Association of Minnesota will be held at Columbia Golf Course, Minneapolis’s second-oldest city course. The Golf Fundraiser raises money for the Association while heightening awareness of brain injury and building a sense of camaraderie among all its participants. The cost per golfer is $65. TBI Group Meetings in Itasca County
Wayne Stoltz, TBI/stroke Sept 03, is starting a series of monthly TBI meetings in the Grand Rapids area and he is looking for your support and participation. Anyone with a TBI or their caregiver is encouraged to come. Meetings will be informal, with the goal of talking about ideas and problems in everyday life: work, shopping, getting around, fishing and taxes, anything participants want to talk about or problem-solve. Groups will set the topics for the next meeting at the current meeting.

Classified Ad: Accessible Housing in Coon Rapids
Mary T Inc. has current openings in our CC Parkview Lodging program located in Coon Rapids. These four bedroom, barrier free townhomes are located on a commuter bus line to downtown Minneapolis. The $500 a month rent includes the following amenities:

• Heat, electricity, water, sewer, trash, central air
• Three meals plus snacks will be provided each day
• Washer/Dryer
• Basic cable and high speed internet in each bedroom
• Fully furnished common areas and kitchen.
• Maintenance of grounds including snow shoveling and lawn care

Staff are available to assist with general housekeeping of the home on a daily basis, assistance with cooking, grocery shopping, setting up medical appointments, money management, coordination of transportation, socialization and other daily living skill needs specific to each individual. Additional services include weekly support and case management from an LPN and oversight by an RN. This home is staffed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with no overnight staff. An emergency call system is available. MA waiver allocation or private insurance covers the cost of the staff support and services. Ads submitted in hard copy will be charged an additional $15 administrative fee.
