Come Celebrate at Brain-a-Palooza
This Saturday, Saturday, August 3, join Tim Rundall, a long-time supporter of the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance, at the Second Annual Brain-a-Palooza fundraiser. Tim gives back to the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance in honor of his son Adam who sustained a brain injury ten years ago. Doors open for Brain-a-Palooza at 1 p.m. at O'Gara’s Garage, 164 Snelling Ave. N. in St. Paul.

Nine music acts will play throughout the day and evening. There are two stages: the "Main Stage" (2 to 11 p.m.) and the "Acoustic Stage" (5 to 9:30 p.m.). There will also be a "Music Talent Competition" during the afternoon with a 1st place prize of $100; competitors must register by 3 p.m. to take part in the Music Talent Competition.

Tickets are $20 at the door. Children 12 and under are free; children 13 to 17 years of age are $10. Children MUST be accompanied by a parent.

All proceeds from Brain-a-Palooza will benefit the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance, helping to serve the over 100,000 Minnesotans living with disabilities as a result of brain injury. Join us for an afternoon and evening of music and fun while raising money for a great cause!

Mayo Clinic TBI Model System - The CONNECT Trial – Seeking Participants
If you are at least 18 years old and were hospitalized with TBI in the past 12 months, you may be able to help Mayo Clinic do a first-of-its-kind research study to understand how telemedicine (communicating by computer) might be an effective way to remotely connect TBI expertise with those who need it.

Mayo Clinic TBI rehabilitation specialists are seeking participants to help with a pre-research pilot in which the specialists will test different forms of communication (web based, email, smart phone, text, social media, Skype) to provide education, consultation, and other types of TBI related care from a distance.

If an individual is interested in this experience, we will also ask them whether we can communicate with their families or caregivers, as well as their local providers (for example, primary care providers and therapists), to also involve them in this experience.

Please contact Anne Moessner, RN at Moessner.anne@mayo.edu or 507-255-3166 if you are able to spend up to 4-6 hours of time over the course of about 60 days working with the Mayo Clinic TBI rehabilitation team. Any expertise or guidance provided during this limited-term pilot will be free.

Thank you in advance for your willingness to help us learn, your time and efforts will greatly contribute to the success of this project!

Annual TBI Family Retreat - Registration Closes August 1

It is only a matter of weeks until the TBI Family Retreat! This year's weekend event, held on Friday evening, September 27 through Sunday noon, September 29, provides an opportunity for families who have children and youth with traumatic brain injuries to share time together in a recreational setting near Annandale.

This annual weekend event is for families with children and teens who have a traumatic brain injury. Approximately 15 families participate in the retreat each year. Cost is $30 per family, with scholarships available. Meals, accommodations, and overnight lodging are provided at the camp, which is wheelchair accessible.

Registration deadline is August 1. Click here for more information and to register today.

The TBI Retreat is funded by the Minnesota Low Incidence Projects, which is made possible through a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education.
