Brain Injury Awareness Month

Personal Stories and Media Events
What do we do to spread awareness?
The Public Awareness department conducts outreach to increase awareness of brain injury causes and symptoms through media stories, targeted marketing and event and exhibit attendance. Public Awareness publications are available to help individuals with brain injury and their families become aware of available services, and to reach professionals with information about brain injury. These publications include informational brochures, the quarterly Headlines newsletter, a bi-weekly electronic newsletter, the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance Web site and our Consumer Guide.
Meet some real people affected by brain injury!
Over the past few years, the Brain Injury Association has had the opportunitity to share the stories of individuals with brain injury in print, on the radio and on television. This month, Association staff took park in several interviews, including:
- Fox 9 filmed a spot featuring consumer Jake Rotz, his family and Dr. Andrew Kiragu to be aired this month
- Channel 16 in White Bear Lake is featuring a segment on Brain Injury Awareness Month that includes an interview with our own Associate Director of Operations Brad Donaldson
- Executive Director David King was interviewed by Beth Kidd on KLTE
- Associate Director of Services Pete Klinkhammer will be interviewed by Landon Perry on KTLK later this month
In addition, WCCO and KFAN will be running PSAs on the Association and Brain Injury Awareness month over the next 30 days. A selection of television stories and videos are linked below.
