Walk for Thought Team Profiles

A good portion of the Walk for Thought's success over the past ten years has been in no small part due to the dynamic leadership of its team captains. Read some of their stories and learn the "why" behind their Walk for Thought participation:

Team Profile: Russ & Jenny Philstrom and Bea the Change
"My oldest daughter doesn't talk to me about it, but she says that on January 8, 1994, her daddy died. Her father is still alive and she loves him dearly, but her daddy's gone."

Team Profile: Ardis Sandstrom, Debbi Erickson and the Stampeding Turtles
"We talked about what to call ourselves and I said, 'Well, I know I'm not going to be Johnny B. Quick out there getting this walk done,' so we all laughed and said, 'Let's call it the Stampeding Turtles.'"

Team Profile: Tracy Winkel-Johnson and the Dragonfly Clan
"When Steve was little, he was scared of dragonflies; he thought they were a needle or something that would hurt him. My uncle made up a story for him about how dragonflies became dragonflies and are friendly. When he passed, since dragonflies became this positive symbol of rebirth, we hooked onto that; when we were thinking up a team name we just thought 'Dragonfly' because it stands for him."

Team Profile: Terri Traudt and Team Nichole
"My original motivation was to turn heartbreak into action on Nichole's behalf. But, it didn't take long for it to open up."
