The Brain Injury Association of Minnesota is looking for volunteers to be on the following committees for the Walk for Thought 2006
Media Subcommittee
Corporate Development Subcommittee
Walk Team Recruitment Subcommittee
Logistics Subcommittee
The subcommittee chair will be responsible for providing guidance and support of the subcommittee's activities as related to the Walk for Thought. The Chair of this committee should maintain regular contact with walk chair to review goals, deadlines and progress.
Subcommittee Responsibilities:
In partnership with Association staff, establish a media plan that will include but not be limited to the following:
- Identify our target audience.
- Establish Walk for Thought brand identity goals and standards.
- Establish singular key message for walk communications.
- Establish goals for the reach and frequency of message for the Walk.
- Identify and prioritize appropriate potential media outlets for message.
- Cultivate media sponsorship and media buys with direct media contact to be coordinated at the discretion of the public awareness director.
- Coordinate display of event poster at local businesses, retailers, churches and community centers to increase visibility.
- Work with printer and designers to ensure accurate and timely printing of walk related materials.
- Solicit in-kind donors as possible to reduce print and marketing costs.
- Work with staff to publicize event in Headlines and on the association website.
- Assist staff in the development of media packets.

Corporate Development Subcommittee
The subcommittee chair will be responsible for providing guidance and support of the Corporate Development subcommittee's activities as related to the Walk for Thought, specifically the recruitment of corporate sponsors.
Subcommittee Responsibilities:
In partnership with association staff establishes a development plan which will include but not be limited to:
- Identify and develop strategy for contacting major donors and completing follow up contacts.
- Assist in the cultivation of relationships with potential donors while maintaining relationships with past and current donors.
- Develop a strategy for capturing previously underutilized donors.
- Coordinate with association staff the preparation and distribution of information packets to potential sponsors as appropriate. Complete necessary follow up contacts.
- Assist staff in conducting in person presentations to potential corporate sponsors.
- Contact board members to review their list of potential corporate sponsors and confirm that they have completed these corporate contacts. Offer assistance with this process and communicate results to association contact.
- Negotiate with sponsors for in-kind donations and walk team recruitment.
- Assist staff in coordinating the delivery of post walk communications including walk results, photos and press releases to past, present and potential donors.

Walk Team Recruitment Subcommittee
The subcommittee chair will be responsible for providing guidance and support of the subcommittee's activities as related to the Walk for Thought. The Chair of this committee should maintain regular contact with walk chair to review goals, deadlines and progress.
Subcommittee Responsibilities:
In partnership with association staff establishes a walk team recruitment plan which will include but not be limited to:
- Develop a strategy to increase walk Team Captain involvement.
- Coordinate walk Team Captain kickoff dinner.
- Contact and meet with support groups to increase group involvement and endorsement of the walk.
- In cooperation with development committee, recruit corporate walk teams.
- Respond to requests for information about the walk and forming walk teams.
- Forward participant photos to walk Team Captains.
- Recruit walk premiums.
- Distribute walk team captain packets.
- Distribute team captain recruitment letters.
- Maintain contact with Team Captains.

Subcommittee Responsibilities:
In partnership with association staff establishes a logistics plan which will include but not be limited to:
- Develop a strategy for securing food and beverage sponsors for the event.
- With staff, recruit event volunteers with emphasis on working with corporate contacts to coordinate volunteers from corporate partners.
- Together with staff define volunteer duties and maintain contact with volunteers throughout event to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
- With staff and volunteers ensure that all participants are greeted and properly registered for the walk.
- Arrange with association staff reservation of park space and purchase of necessary permits.
- Work with association staff to order and place walk signage.
- Arrange for a golf cart to be used at the walk site.
- Arrange for walk "wrap up" including greeting walkers as they complete the walk, team photos, thanking volunteers and park clean up.
- Contact hotels near walk location to determine room rates and negotiate reduced room rates for walk participants.
- Coordinate set up and take down of refreshment stand and water station.
- Work with volunteers to arrange distribution of walk t-shirts.
